Watton and Briggs lead the way

Rachael Watton, Mortonhall and Eilidh Briggs, Kilmacolm lead the qualifiers for the match play stages of the Scottish Girls' (Close) Amateur Championship at Eyemouth Golf Club.  On a day where the early starters were faced with rain and strong winds, the later starters were glad of a two and a half hour fog delay which saw both the rain and wind easing.

Rachael Watton made the most of the calmer conditions in the last group of the day and came in with a two under par round of 71 to lead the qualifiers on a two under total of 144.  Eilidh Briggs qualified in second place on 155 with Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw) and Gemma Dryburgh (IMG Academies) in third and fourth respectively one shot further back.
